|Painted and stained New Zealand Pine. Bocote an Parota wood.
|36H x 11W x 4 1/2D
Over the years I have done several wall pieces in search of ways to express myself in different woods. The bottom sail shape is made of Parota, with the dark heart wood and the lighter sap wood showing. The other curved black piece is Bocote, and naturally very dark wood. Both are finished with a polyurethane resin. The other shapes are made from Pine.
The round piece is a straight cut from a log, finished in an orangish color stain. The three dimensional piece take on different dimensions, as the light hits them from different angles. Working this piece was meant to take on an abstract feel for the subject that I called Busy Harbor.
