Division One

Copyright:2025
Medium:Salt Cedar wood on a base of Curly Maple
Dimensions:20H x 7W x 7D
Edition Number:340

The sculpture features a striking composition of a split piece of Salt Cedar Wood that rise from a square base made of Curly Maple. The pieces are finished with a non yellowing polyurethane that highlights the natural beauty of the material.

At the apex of the two wooden structures, a smooth, spherical element is inserted, creating a sense of tension and balance. The juxtaposition of the angular, textured wood against the smoothness of the sphere evokes themes of contrast and duality. The two pieces appear to reach towards each other, yet remain separated, emphasizing the concept of division. The curves parallel each other because they are from the same pice of wood.

The overall aesthetic is both organic and modern, inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay between unity and separation, while the craftsmanship showcases the intricate details of the wood grain, adding depth and character to the piece. The sculpture invites contemplation on the nature of relationships and the spaces that exist between us.
