This piece is done in a style I originated years ago, cutting thick pieces of hardwoods in a ribbon configuration. The light woods with their unique grain were finished in an non yellowing polyurethane.
A simple smooth line gives movement to this pedestal piece. The Birch ball was positioned so that the negative space is punctuated by an imposing object breaking its plane.
