Flight

As with many of my pieces, the wood is what drove the composition of Flight.  The piece was cut from a larger slab of Mango wood, purchased from a local hardwood importer.  The Mango was imported from a grove in Mexico.  The unique live edge is incorporated into this simple piece, with part of it smoothly finished, and some of the actual live edge exposed in its natural state.

The piece is finished with a non yellowing polyurethane that will keep the natural beauty of the light wood preserved.  It is mounted on another rare wood called Bocate.  The sap wood in the base lends a nice color similarity with the Mando wood grain.
