The piece was composed from a 1928 painting entitled “Worker and Machine”, by Hugo Gellert. Rather then working from a design that was from my own making, I set out to capture the essence of the oil painting from the WPA period in our nations history. With the current federally funded infrastructure initiatives, we feel like there has been a stepping back in time. My piece represents an updated version of the Gellert work, only in 3D.
