Signal Root

This sculpture feels like a quiet moment of emergence. A natural piece of Cocobolo root spreads outward, grounded and heavy. From the center of the side a piece of aluminum bends and reaches upward, almost like signals moving into the air. The contrast between materials is the heart of the piece. The wood is organic, scarred, and shaped by time. The metal is light, restless, and searching. A painted black wooden sphere rests on a natural branch of the form. It acts like a point of balance or thought. The piece suggests the moment when something old sends out something new. The past anchored in the earth, while ideas, energy, or spirit stretch outward.
