Ukraine Tank Barrier

Medium:Painted Fir
Dimensions:39”H x 39”W x 39”D
Edition Number:#275

The war in Ukraine is all consuming with the news coverage.  A few weeks before starting this piece, I watched a news clip of actual metal tank barriers being built in the Ukrainian town of Odesa.  At the time of this writing, the coastal town had not been invaded.  The colors of the wooden piece are the colors of the Ukraine, but the middle piece is painted black, representing the deaths that have been suffered by the people of this independent country.  “Freedom” is roughly painted on the black.

I was just told yesterday (8/15/22) that this piece will be going to Ukraine House in Balboa Park, San Diego. I am delighted to contribute this. I am so frustrated we can’t do more to contribute to the plight of Ukraine.
