Analyzing one’s work by other artists is an integral aspect of artistic growth. For young artists, the initial step involves presenting their work to the public in an art exhibition. As confidence builds, one may join art groups dedicated to advancing one’s work in fellow artist critiques.
Working alone in the studio, the artist serves as their sole critic. However, life operates in a complex environment, and the art world is both international and multifaceted, encompassing a diverse range of opinions from artists and art enthusiasts. Therefore, the journey begins.
As of 2025, I have had limited opportunities to receive professional art criticism. One notable instance was an analysis conducted by a locally renowned art teacher and academic. Over time, my work has progressed to a point where I am more comfortable with my artistic style and presentation.
In April 2025, the Oceanside Museum of Art Artists Alliance initiated an in-depth examination of my work. This collaboration resulted in a comprehensive review of my process and completed works.
The Museum organized an artists’ call for submissions from San Diego artists willing to have their work evaluated by a panel of three esteemed art professionals: G. James Daichendt, L. Croskey, and Irene Herenandez-Feiks.
James Daichendt is a renowned art critic, curator, and art historian currently serving as the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
Leonard “LC” Crosky is a pivotal figure in Los Angeles’ contemporary art scene, a visionary curator whose impact spans several decades. He is the founder of Cannibal Flower, a pioneering pop-up gallery, and the co-founder of Thinkspace Projects, one of LA’s most influential contemporary galleries.
Irene Hernandez-Feiks, the proprietor of WonderlandSF Gallery and Chillin’ Productions events, has successfully produced over a thousand events encompassing art, fashion, music, and film. She has collaborated with clients, benefitted from auctions, and organized various events.
Among the over 600 members of the organization, my work was selected to be part of only 10 pieces critiqued during the evening event. With a crowd exceeding 80 attendees, it was an unforgettable night. This event marked a significant milestone in my journey to establish myself as a recognized artist in San Diego. Among the ten paintings and photographs mine was the only sculpture to be discussed.
Overall, my critique received positive feedback, with all three judges complementing the piece and highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship exhibited. The constructive criticism received during the critique was carefully considered as I progress as an artist.

All artists dream of the day when their work will be shown in a gallery. It can be as much of a dream as selling your first work. Although I realized this dream some time ago, it is always a thrill to have your work shown in the front of a gallery. The picture here shows my work arranged in a San Diego gallery, along with another sculptors white marble piece.
