Scott Bruckner - Sculptor

"Wilson"
96"H x 40"W x 30"
Wood, Copper & Metal

A piece of milled lumber was cut by using a hand held circular saw. After the cuts were made the end pieces were spread with wire and submerged in hot water, then dried. The top of the work has a piece of a log that has been cut, then placed into the split to keep some of the wood apart.

The copper wire flows through the middle round hole and creates a third circular shape.

The piece is designed to be viewed from either side, and gets its name from the look of the top round piece. In the movie “The Castaway," the round soccer ball held dear to Tom Hanks was called Wilson, a slight resemblance to the rough piece in this work.
