This piece is 14 feet high from
its base, and has a wingspan of 7 feet.
It is made of wood, with steel supports,
and cable connecting the curved sides. It is
only 4 inches deep and does not extend into the bike path.
Several coats of weatherproof deck sealer were
applied to help
maintain the finish, as well as protect it from the
drying and fading effects from the sun.
This is an outdoor sculpture project, for the
city of Santa Clarita, California.
Permanent installation will be for a
period of three years along the Southfork
Trail bike path. On the
other side of the railing is the dry river bed of the Santa
Clara river. The
piece was designed for this specific
location. Currently awaiting for
the final approval process to be worked
through for this installation to become
a reality.
