The piece of wood came from an Avocado orchard in Fallbrook, CA. I have scoured this same orchard over the years, finding interesting pieces of wood to shape into wonderful art objects. This challenges me as an artist, looking for raw materials simply laying on ground. The wood needs to be dry, but not rotted.
Epoxy was used to stabilize the wood, and ended up appearing like a small pool. The chrome ball brings a stark contrast to the natural wood, and appears to be floating in the pool.
