The light colored sap wood is complemented by the dark heart wood of the Parota. Parota is a tree grown in Mexico and sold at a hardwood store in Carlsbad, CA. The flowing white wood looks strongly like a pony tail, but looking closer, you can see the outline of another figure in the negative space. This piece appears to be two pieces of wood put together, but it was actually made of one slab of wood from the same tree.
